Ronald Reagan 01

The Wit and Wisdom of Ronald Reagan - 01

Today I am starting a series of nuggets on the wit and wisdom of Ronald Reagan. Reagan was a great leader and as a leader he had those who loved him and those who hated him. I am in the first group. Reagan had a great positive influence on me. He was elected President the year I first came to America. I quickly improved the English language from listening to him. He was a great communicator at the time America needed one. His simple use of simple words carried great messages of a better future, a future full of hope. He lived a great and fruitful life and left many lessons we can learn from. Let’s get started.

1.      Private business and industry is the most over-regulated, over-taxed and, under appreciated part of American society.

2.      Government does not produce revenue. It consumes it.

3.      A leader, once convicted a particular course of action is the right one, must have the determination to stick with it and be undaunted when the going gets tough.

4.      I know it’s hard; it’s hard when you’re up to your armpits in alligators to remember you came here to drain the swamp.

5.      There are worse things to be called than a dreamer.

6.      I mean no irreverence when I mention that I once played a sheriff on TV who thought he could do the job without a gun. I was dead in the first 27 minutes of the show.

7.      May each of you have the heart to conceive, the understanding to direct, and the hand to execute works that will leave the world a little better for your having been there.

Thank you for reading and reflecting on today’s nuggets. Share them with others.
We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give. Be a giver in a world of takers.

Be blessed and be a blessing to others.
